Happy Valentines! .... Yesterday

Last night's Valentines celebration was wonderful! It was a simple dinner of baked mozzarella wrapped in wontons and served with an avocado dipping sauce and some little cucumber sandwiches to start. Then we had French onion soup, broiled tilapia with a dill butter and black rice and we finished with chocolate mousse and chocolate dipped strawberries. Yum!

What a fun little dinner party and the boys were so happy to be included!

Why I Love My Husband: Reason # 847695

Does anyone remember "McGuyver" from the 80's?  The guy who could build / make / create almost anything out of nothing at all? 

Well....I am married to him....

AND.......he made me these......

They are little place card holders for when we host dinner parties.  Frivolous?  Yes....absolutely!  ....but they are too cute for words!  They're made out of timy blocks of wood cut to size with an angled slot on the top to hold the card... then spray painted and dollar store bling.  I love it!

New Projects and a New Look

I just thought a little face lift was in order.  I see some really great blogs out there but I don't think I've achieved that level...yet! 

I thought it would be really difficult to get back into the swing of things after having taken such signuificant break from Scrapbooking but I think my creative juices are flowing well. 

I've done layouts of my Uncle in the past, however I'm still not satisfied with the end result.  I think until I am able to really convey all of my feelings in my journalling, it's just not a finished subject.  Maybe it never will be, but I'll keep trying.  Until then....here's my latest attempt...

I really love those little flowers that I found a few tutorials on, and when I say love, I really mean "addicted to".  Here's a video tutorial on how to make them yourself.

While I find them appropriate for feminine layouts and ones like the one above, I'm having trouble adapting their use to my husband and boys.  So, the next layout, is sans floral.

I'm pushing myself to really do more creative things with paper...so this one I sprayed with  a home-made paint spray.  I diluted craft store acrylic paint with water at a ratio of about 1 part paint to 2 parts water and then I used a little dollar store spray bottle to deliver the fine (not so fine) mist.

Next I'm hoping to try making my own glimmer mist....I'm sure there's a tutorial on that somewhere!

I love what you can learn online....

I was cruising Pinterest the other day and came across a post on making cute little floral balls for valentines day. Some tissue streamers and two styrofoam balls ( from the dollar store) and voila!

I've tracked down the video for these because of the interest (probably for Valentines Day) and am posting it at the end of this post.  Enjoy!
