the weekend

ok....I started this on Thursday and was about to say that DS was fine.........I was wrong....

Sunday
What a weekend. I am wiped. We saw some friends at their new house on Friday and had fun catching up.

Saturday was spent relaxing with more friends in the shade and figuring out my computer issues. We did have a wonderful bonfire on saturday night, complete with SMORES ....... Mmmmmmm, yummy!!!!

DS is still battling whatever is bugging his little tummy. Keep your fingers crossed for the little dude....we're heading to the DRs first thing in the am. Unfortuantely when my kids are sick, all other thoughts are out the window. So, I have nothing else to say.

I know....remarkable.

Worry............

I think that it is in my nature to worry. Regardless of the subject matter....I need to worry. Today's worry = sick child.

I picked my eldest DS up at the school yesterday morning after I had received the "He's not feeling well" call, and brought him home. He complained of a sore stomach and not much else. Nothing happened. I waited for it...you know what 'IT' I mean........but nothing happened. Phew! relief! But no....he still wasn't feeling well this morning.....so again, he stays home. And, nothing. Good appetite, normal BM, no fever......what is this? Appendicitis? West Nile Virus?

Tonight he's fine.

We'll see what happens tomorrow.

frustration day.........

I'm gonna keep this short and sweet......Do ya sometimes have one of THOSE days?? Nothing's quite right and everything is really getting on your nerves???? That's me today...probably hormonal....

My laptop......the wireless connection is no good unless you're seriously RIGHT outside the office door..... that's not exactly what I had in mind when I purchased it! I'd love to be able to surf on another floor of the house......argghhhhhhh! Why are computers sooooo frustrating!!!!

I tried on bathingsuits today....................................yeah.............

In closing, just two small obervations........

Salespeople who hate their jobs should find alternative employment.......please...........

Drivers who have lost their peripheral vision or who have seized up entirely and are unable to turn their heads.......please relinquish your licence. It's just not safe.

Please feel free to add your 'beef' into my comments section.

I really need a laugh today!

It's always nice to put on some bling!

So my friend Jen and I went to a benefit, put on by Second Harvest, last night. It was interesting and fun!!!! The food was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! Several popular restaurants from around the city of Toronto, sent their chefs to prepare little tasties for the guests. WONDERFUL food!!! I don't think that I have a favorite, but there were some really kewl ethnic concoctions and then the chocolate...oh my gosh!!!!!!!

Lots of great Ontario wineries also participated, like Malivoire, who had an excellent selection of wines and Southbrook, who had a particularly fabulous Raspberry dessert wine that even my friend who doesn't drink, enjoyed!

It was a great experience, but the best part was shedding my "Mom" uniform and donning a funky pair of heels and some "bling"! I always feel so great when I get to be a girl again and teeter around in shoes that make my feet hurt!!!

To end my details of last night, I have to describe the washrooms. Located at Downsview park, there were no washrooms within the facility. So they hired some lovely Jonny-on-the-spots for the evening. We actually had to exit the building and walk across the parking lot to where these port-a-potties were situated. These were trailers, sufficient in number, but the vertigo you experienced while sitting in these things was rather dissettling! Picture yourself, teetering over the john, balanced so as to not touch anything, purse in one hand and your dress in the other........and someone enters the 6x10 trailer.....walks up 3 steps and sends the trailer into a gently rocking motion. You are inches away from the person using the stall behind you and only a little farther from the growning lineup outside your cubicle door. It's a wonder that there weren't more accidents within these small compartments! I was anxious to leave and discontinued my water consumption for the rest of the evening!

I'm sure the organization is receiving some interesting feedback regarding their facility selections. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see it at a venue with indoor plumbing next year!

Freestyle????

My style of crapbooking is evolving...at least I think it is. I've challenged myself to get bolder and more courageous with my layouts in an attempt to really explore where my creativity takes me. It's scary sometimes. Things don't always turn out as planned....but I want to push myself and my abilities. A friend once told me that she was surprised that I liked the designs of this artist because she thought that I was a very "linear" scrapper. So I started asking myself why this different style was so appealing...and I think that the answer is that I want to let myself be this free in my own designs. This is what I am now trying to do... Be free with my designing.

Don't get me wrong, I love the very conventinoal layouts that I've created in the past but I found them kinda boring....or amybe I was just getting bored with doing the same things over and over......it might just be time to re-invent myself as a scrapbooker! Anyways, I used to created like this:

Actually, I really like this layout....it talks about my love for the BSB......No, I'm not telling you what BSB stands for....you'lll have to find out yourself.

I also draw inspiration from some other wonderful scrappers like Brenda Mae Teo who just landed a DT spot at ScrapGal and Ruth Akers who is just simply everywhere I look! This girl is on fire with her designs!! There's another girl, whom I only know as acanlooman, who is totally rockin' this freestyle thing! She definitely has found her groove!

Anyways, I'm tryin' some new things and hopefully my style will work itself out...all in good time.

let's talk Scrapbooking

What are your favorites? Who are your favorites?....scrapbooking only please.

Paper is my design element! I cut and piece and paste and feel like a paper-piecing goddess. Ok, maybe not a goddess, but it sure does make the creative juices flow. I am a slave to the companies that bring out fresh and innovative designs like a couple of my current favorites Cherry Arte and Urban Lily. I also have a passion for My Mind's Eye.....their colours in the kaliedoscope line really get my Mojo a flowin'! And of course, this blog is titled after a collection from Basic Grey.

I worked on this layout last night. I guess I'm pretty happy with it on the whole. It's fun and colourful...just like me!

rainy day ho hum

the word for today.................

Procrastination, from the noun procrastinate.

pro·cras·ti·nate ( P ) Pronunciation Key (pr-krst-nt, pr-)v. pro·cras·ti·nat·ed, pro·cras·ti·nat·ing, pro·cras·ti·nates v. intr.
To put off doing something, especially out of habitual carelessness or laziness.v. tr.
To postpone or delay needlessly.

and my personal definition............

: to know that you have things to do and to consciously distract yourself from these tasks by doing other useless things.

LOL......it's one of those days. I am finally feeling better after having the 24 hours flu bug, but I'm am totally NOT motivated to do anything. It's rainy and damp and cool.....I just wanna sit and BE.

I did complete my submission for a manufacturers DT call, so it will be fun (ie: nerve-wrenching) to sit in anticipation of their call.
