Ranging from in-home consultations for our local customers, to photo-guided design services for our online clients, we will suggest a range of possible design schemes based on your design preferences. In order for our customers to receive the best possible service from our Design Consultants, there are a few points that will give us valuable information about your design scheme:

Have a clear idea of where you want your Skribblz to go, before ordering. Whether you already have an idea in mind, or are waiting for a consultant to offer guidance, the size of your space will determine the design of your Skribblz. Having measurements of the intended space will result in a custom piece that you love.

Have a clear idea of what your decorating style is. Your likes, dislikes and goals for the intended space.

Know your colour scheme. Have a palette in mind from which your designer can springboard.

Have ideas in mind for your preferences, be it motivational quotes, humorous antidotes, graphics or a combination of these.

Have photos that you can email to our designers to show them your space.

Although this Using your preferences, our designers will create something that is unique for your space and a reflection of your personal design style. Remember, "Style isn't about fashion, it's about what makes your heart sing!". You can't go wrong with your design, if it is something you love!

Salad Rolls with Hoisin Dipping Sauce

Dipping Sauce:
1/2 cup water
6 tbsp hoisin sauce
1/2 tsp sesame oil
1 1/2 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp garlic
1/2 can tomato paste (may be substituted with 1 cup ground tomatoes)
2 1/2 tsp chili garlic sauce ( may adjust if you prefer it less hot)
1 tsp sugar

combine ingredients in saucepan and warm until just at a simmer.
remove from heat and transfer to bowl to cool.

Rolls:
1/10 pkg rice noodles soaked in water (I use really thin brown rice noodles)
1/2 cucumber (cut into thin strips)
1/4 red pepper (cut into thin strips)
1 cup lettuce (diced small) (nappa cabbage can be used as substitute)
1/4 cup cilantro (diced)
8 cashews (chopped)
rice papers

To create the rolls:

follow the instructions on your rice paper package to soften the paper
(I wet the paper and they lay between 2 damp clean dishcloths until soft)
lay all items together in the paper to the side closest to you and roll 1 full turn
fold in both sides and roll remainder of way to create your roll filled with yummy stuff

Serve rolls with cooled dipping sauce...perfect for a summery day!

Crispy Tilapia with Avocado Sauce

4 tilapia fillets
8 ounces of totilla chips (crushed)
1/4 cup salsa
2 tbsp chipotle peppers in sauce (gound)
1 tbsp lime juice
1 avocado
1/4 cup light sour cream
1 tbsp lime juice
1-2 tbsp milk

preheat oven to 350 degrees
combine the salsa, chipotle and lime juice together.
dredge the fillets in this mixture, then coat in the crushed tortilla chips and lay on a baking sheet
bake for 15-20 minutes.
while fish bakes, blend the avocado, milk, sourcream and lime juice together until smooth and consistency of a thick dressing
serve sauce over fish

Chicken with Citrus Salsa

4 chicken breasts - grilled with cajun spice

4 nectarines (diced)
1 red onion (diced)
1 red pepper (diced)
1 grapefruit (diced) (optional)
1-2 mangos (diced)
1/4 cup cilantro (diced) (or more to taste)
1.5 tbsp minced garlic
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp lime juice (or more to taste)
hot pepper flakes
salt and pepper

mix ingredients and allow to sit chilled for about 30 minutes before serving.
top chicken with salsa and enjoy!

Banana Muffins

In an attempt to make my muffin recipe more heart healthy and calorie conscious, I played around with some ingredients and got this....

1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup quick rolled oats
1/2 cup flax seed (ground)
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder (heaping)
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup chocolate chips
2 egg whites
3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
4 bananas mashed
6 pitted prunes diced (optional)

preheat oven to 350 degrees
mix wet ingredients with sugar
mix dry ingredients with chocolate chips
add dry to wet and combine without overmixing.
pour into lightly greased (or pam sprayed) mini muffin tins
bake for 20 minutes or until desired doneness

Chicken Salsa Soup

1 cup lentils
1 can black beans
1 onion
2 grilled chicken breasts - cut or shredded
2 carrots - diced finely
10 cups of water & 5 low sodium chicken boullion pouches OR 3 cartons of low sodium chicken stock
1 c ground tomatoes
1 1/2 c salsa
1.5 tbsp chili powder

simmer together for an hour
serve with grated cheese (optional)
top with cilantro (optional)

Breakfast Oatmeal

5 cups quick rolled oats
2/3 cup flax seed (ground)
1 cup bran buds
1 tbsp (heaping) baking powder
1 cup granola (optional)
1 cup slivered almonds
1 1/2 cups blueberries
1/2 cup cranberries
2/3 cup brown sugar
4 egg whites
1/2 cup grapeseed oil
1/2 cup skim milk

preheat oven to 350
mix all dry ingredients together
add last three ingredients and stir well
place in 9 x 13 baking dish (do not pack down)
bake for 45 min - 1 hour
serve with yogurt, skim milk, maple syrup or a combination of these
refridgerate remaining for leftovers the next day...YUM!

My husband and I eat this all week..it's a super easy breakfast solution that my kids love if I omit the almonds!

Vegetarian Chili

(don't tell anyone and they'll never know the difference!)

1 package of ground tofu (mexican flavour is best)
1 packet of low sodium beef boullion flavouring (sprinkled on the tofu)
1 cup black beans (soaked in water overnight)
1 cup adzuki beans (soaked in water overnight)
1 cup mung beans (soaked in water overnight)
2 peppers of your choice (chopped) ( I prefer red, orange or yellow)
1 large onion (chopped)
4 cups ground tomatoes
1 can tomato paste (optional)
1 cup of frozen corn
1 tbsp garlic
2 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp cayenne
1 tbsp black pepper
additional chili powder to taste

Sautee tofu, onions, garlic and spices together.
Add beans and stir.
Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 6 hours (can be placed in crock pot on high).
Taste and adjust seasonings.
Serve alone or with toasted pita.

It's been a whirlwind start to 2011 and I'm taking just a wee break to visit with friends. I've designed something fabulous for my GF and I can't wait to install it! Her quote is...

It's a new year and a new website! Things are pretty much the same on the new site, however if you're a previous customer, you may notice that your login or password doesn't work on the new site. If so, go ahead and create a new one! You'll also notice that some of the categories have changed in an effort to make it easier for our customers to find exactly what they are looking for!

You'll also notice some new designs for 2011. You'll find them easily under the New2011 tab and also within the existing categories.

Some New Designs

It's been abusy few weeks, working on new designs for the site. The designers wanted a more whimsical feel to some of the designs and I think we've captured that. Here's one of my favorites called "Diggin' It"...

We've also started catering more to personalized artwork, especially for nurseries and baby's rooms. I love this latest design called Moscow...

That's it for now....I don't think all of the designs are fully functional quite yet, but we're working on it!

Common Question: Can I install my Skribblz right after I paint?

Paint typically needs to cure for a period of no less than a month, to ensure that it won't peel right off your wall in the event that you remove your Skribblz. Curing makes the paint hard, essentially making sure that the moisture is gone from the painted surface.

Be patient! Just wait to make sure your paint is cured. You don't want to have to re-order your artwork...or worse yet....repaint an entire wall!

Common Question: Do I have to clean my wall?

Well, the answer is simple......YES. Unless this wall was painted within the last 3 months, you are safest to just bite the bullet, and wash the wall. Washing the surface removes any oil, smoke or residue that could affect the adhesive on your Skribblz. You don't want your artwork peeling off and having to re-order a new piece.

Common Question: Can I cut my Skribblz?

Many of our customers ask if they can cut their Skribblz. And our answer......of course you can! Often our customers find it easier to install Skribblz if they have cut them apart, and just as often, they want to customize the look of the artwork by placing the cut pieces in their own design. You can trim all of the excess paper off too, in order to make your piece easier to handle.

There's just one thing to keep in mind: Don't cut through the image! Even though the vinyl is thin, if you cut the image you will probably see the mark once it's installed.

Other than that, go nuts....cut away!

Tips for Installing Perfect Vinyl Lettering!

1. PREP YOUR WALLS.

If you have grease, smoke or just day to day residue on your painted walls, your Skribblz Art will not adhere well to the surface. Clean the wall well with a mixture of dish soap and water, and dry thoroughly.

2. PREP THE ARTWORK!

No, don't take shortcuts, prepping your artwork is a necessary piece of the puzzle. After removing your vinyl from the tube, unroll it and allow it to rest. Once it has flattened slightly, flip it over and rub the paper backing with a credit card or flat plastic tool. Try a test of the vinyl, peeling it from the transfer tape. If it wants to stay stuck to the rigid backing, replace the transfer tape and rub again. Your vinyl should stick to the transfer tape, and not the backing.

3. GET IT STRAIGHT!

If you are planning a curly quote, flourish or wavy design, or you are planning to install your text on an angle, this does not apply to you! But for everyone else, the key to a beautiful piece, is to get it straight. This means measure, measure and measure again!

You might think your eye is pretty good at telling you when it looks straight, but even 1/4" discrepancy can ruin the look of your artwork!

Borrow a level or do some creative work with a tape measure, but definitely get it straight!

4. TAPE IT SECURELY. (optional)

Painter's tape is probably best, but masking tape will do. When you have it aligned, tape it to the wall with some nice wide tape. There may be markings on your order, depending on its' complexity, to help you align it on your wall.

5. CUT INTO SECTIONS. (optional)

We don't always recommend this, but if you feel that the size is unmanageable, then carefully cut between the words, up to the tape level. This will allow you to remove the backing in sections.

6. ADHERE TO YOUR WALL.

Whether you've taped it in place or you have a couple of friends holding it for you, you now must stick it to the wall. Wait! You must work from the center out...smoothing out bubbles as you go. Be patient, get it right.

7. REMOVE THE TRANSFER TAPE.

Once you have burnished the surface of the image, you can now remove the transfer tape. If the letters want to come with the tape, you didn't burnish it enough. Peel away at the 45 degree angle, keeping your hands close to the wall. If you pull it away quickly or with your hands away from the wall, you risk pulling off the entire piece!

8. GET OUT THE HAIRDRYER.

No, leave your hair alone...this is for the Skribblz! If you've gotten any small bubbles under the lettering, use your hairdryer to warm the vinyl. Keep it moving, you don't want it to melt! Those pesky bubbles should just flatten right out!

"What is Skribblz....is it a sticker?"

This is the question I get more than any other. No, Skribblz are not stickers, they are transfers.

"What's the difference?"

Stickers are peel and stick and are made with strong glue on inexpensive substrates like plastic and paper.

Skribblz are transfers. We use high quality, ultra thin light-weight vinyl, in a matte finish, that has a very thin layer of self adhesive for applying the design to the wall. Because of this, Skribblz are sandwiched between two layers: A rigid paper backing that allows the vinyl to be processed and a thin low-tack transfer paper used to position your Skribblz art.

The difference between stickers and transfers is obvious once they are on the wall. Stickers...well, they look like a sticker. Skribblz Art transfers look as though you have painted the image on the wall.

Oh and one more thing.....yes, you can take them off. Skribblz are easy to remove and won't damage your walls. They may however, damage poor paintwork on walls. If you're removing your skribblz and you notice anything suspicious, a little heat from a hairdryer will soften the vinyl enough to allow it to come away easily from your paint.

I hope this clears up the question!

We have chosen to discontinue the Skribblz Art Creative Series. For many reasons, keeping two lines that are so completely different from one another, is just not in the cards for us at this time. In streamlining our collection, we hope to offer more creative designs in our Designer Series and a greater selection.

A special thanks to everyone who has supported us, and we will continue to design innovative pieces for the Just Cre8 kits.

I'm just back from the school this morning, delivering some cupcakes to the classes for Valentines Day. All the kids have their little cards done and are so excited to give them out to all their friends! I just love watching how excited they get on special occasions!

Our Disney adventure was wonderful! If you've never been to Disney, it's a definite must. Whether you have children or not, it's the kind of vacation that keeps you so busy you just can't think about your worries or stresses...there's just too much to do. During dinner one evening, we sat at the Biergarten restaurant with two couples who, now that their children are older, come to Disney and experience all of the fun for themselves. It struck me that Disney has such a unique and fun way of presenting things, that it doesn't just cater to children but to people of all ages.

Anwyays, I wanted to share one of the shots from our trip... It's hilarious to think how both of them were all..."I don't want to have my picture taken with characters" and "that's for babies" at the beginning, and then a couple of days into the trip, they were just so excited to get a shot with this guy! Heck, I even wanted to get a shot with him!

Surprisingly, the Magic kingdom was one of our favorite parks, along with Epcot. It was interesting to see how much the boys enjoyed experiencing the different countries in the world showcase at Epcot....of course, doing the Kim Possible adventure helped with that as well.

Ok, I have to mention our favorite rides.....

Mine was the new "Soarin'" at Epcot....OH MY GOSH!!!! It is soo amazingly cool! You feel like you are flying over the most beautiful scenery you can imagine! After doing it twice back to back (gotta love that fast pass), I could have done it at least 2 more times!

My oldest loved Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach....it's a 120 foot vertical fall on an over 300 foot slide......gasp! He said that his legs actually "got air" as he was speeding down the slide at over 50 miles an hour. But the proud look on his face when he was done, and the excitement in his voice, said it all.

My youngest loved Buzz Lightyear's space ranger spin in the magic kingdom. It's very similar to their new ride at Hollywood Studios, but the wait time is much more manageable. Don't get me wrong, the 3-D effects in the new ride are very cool, but the fact taht you can control the spinning in the original, and the shorter wait times, makes this one a definite fav.

My DH was all over the "Lights Camer Action" stunt show at Hollywood Studios. I have to admit it was pretty cool and showed how they create those high intensity chase scenes in the movies. I loved the fire scene at the end...very suspenseful.

Anyways, I could go on, and on, and on....but I won't. We stayed right at one of the Disney resorts and used their meal plan....so it really was a magical vacation for everyone. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

I can't believe that it's already been since Halloween that I updated this thing! Soooooo Sorry everyone! Life just gets ahead of me sometimes!

I just caught a bit of the televised Presidential Inaugeration and I have to say...it was a very moving moment in history. The sheer volume of people was just outstanding! I think Obama understands the immense shoes that he has to fill, and his speech seemed to reflect the weight that has been placed on his shoulders. I hope we see wonderful things in the coming months!

I found out an interesting tidbit the other day.....apparantly the traditional first visit of a new US president has always been to Canada.

George Bush broke that tradition and went to Mexico.

Obama will be revisiting this tradition and coming to Canada for his first trip.

I think that pretty much sums up the character differences right there!

In other news.....Christmas was HUGE this year! We decided to go on a holiday...not something we've done for about 8 years. It was surprise to the kids on Christmas morning, but for the life of them, they could not figure out all the clues in the box until the very last one. As our oldest unwrapped the little handbook for Disney World, his face lit up and he looked like he was going to cry...I was already crying. Anyways, after some serious reservations about flying our youngest was also swept up with the excitement of a family vacation and escaping the cold winter air for a little break. It's all they've talked about since, and I can't wait to watch their faces as we exit the plane and head for Disney.

So I'm hurrying to finish the last of business before we head out. Hopefully I can update with some new things when I return.

It's that time of year again! Time to bring out all your spooktacular decor like this guy!

He's the official greeter at our front door but when the wind blows he ends up pointing towards the house and peeping in the windows beside the door. He's scared the crap outta me more than once already!

So over the weekend, I decided to embark on a little project and try my hand at making tombstones. It's really not hard...a little time consuming to get them to look the way you want, but not hard and there's tons of tutorials and DIY listings on the internet to help.

Here's what I ended up with.....

Two of these are purchases from last year and I added 3 more....here's a closer peek....Check out the names!

DH and I had a hoot choosing the names and distressing these...I can totally see me making more for next year....maybe even a gated fence to go around them too!

A bit of a trim....

Got a new haircut!!!!!!!!

Yup, a whopping 6 inches was cut off my hair yesterday.....AGGGHHHHH!!! Actually I love it! A bit freeing to say the least....but no pictures yet. I'm still working on getting the curls to relax a bit....they're all happy and bouncy and a little WILD!

We've had a house-guest for the past few weeks.....my aunt is staying with us until her condo closes. She's a pretty cool chick so it's nice to have her around. The boys are really gonna miss her when she moves!

James' 40th birthday party was a HUGE success....although a bit wild in the hottub around midnight....thankfully most of the conservatives had left by then. Thanks to all my girls who helped me out with the decorating and planning and a HUGE thanks to Sue and Gary for being the official party photographers! I'm so glad you were here to share in the celebration! (ps-I want copies!)

Hmmm, I can't think of much more to say....I think that's a wrap-up of the last few weeks. Between the store launch, and the party, it's been a wild ride!

I hope everyone has wonderful plans for this long weekend! Especially because it's NOT GOING TO RAIN. I know, careful....that was a bit of an earful, wasn't it!? But after so much rain, I just can't believe that the forecast speaks of a least a bit of sun for the next 4 days.

We are off to a cottage for the weekend to join some friends and hopefully have a few laughs. I will be taking my famous 'mojitos' to share with everyone, and chopping into my crop of mint to take with me.

I've also been reading "the Secret" lately and LOVING it, so I'll pack that to take with me in case there's some down time. I totally recommend this book! It's an easy read and the kind of book you can pick up again and again. YOu must look for it in Chapters.

Ok, well...I'm off for now...I hope you have wonderful plans to take advantage of the long weekend! Have a blast!

Thank goodness for summer! It's finallly here and the livin' gets just a bit easier. We're looking forward to our holidays and will have Skribblz closed during this time. For the closure dates, please visit our Skribblz site.

Sex And The City Baby!

Six friends and I decided to pop into the premier night of the new Sex And The City movie, on Friday night, and absolutely LOVED it!!! Hysterically funny and true to life, we all agreed that it had just the right amount of everything that appeals to a girl. I just have to say that I want her closet!!!

I won't post any spoilers or details of the plot, but I really felt that it was well done and perfect for the female audience......actually I don't think that there was even one guy in the whole theatre! It's definitely for the girls.

A Little Ray of Sunshine!

You know sometimes....you have one of those days. A day when you're just unsure.... Unsure about your life choices and what you're really supposed to be doing...... Questioning everything....questioning your life plan.....

I've been having one of those days.

Not the best feeling.

But then a little ray of sunshine just called me today. Someone who made me feel that what I'm doing is ok, and maybe I just need a little pat on the back so that I remember why I'm making the choices that I am.

I just want to say "thanks".......... you know who you are! If you were here I would give you just the biggest smooch (even though I don't know you that well) and celebrate you with a glass of wine or 2! Thanks for putting me back on track and giving me some much needed advice! YOU RAWK!!!!!

A little motivation....

I'm doing a demo at the LSS this weekend and found that this has actually resulted in some mojo coming over to visit. ....or at least I think so.... However, if it is not the demo effects and if someone actually sent me the aforementioned "mojo" then please accept my most sincere appreciation!!! ....no seriously, you saved me!

I have been suffering from "mojo vacay" for at least a couple of months...probably more if I'm honest with myself. Everything I created was boring, unimaginative and dry. I hate that. I hate struggling with what I'm creating....I like it to flow....not necessarily be brilliant, but definitely to flow.....

Now don't get me wrong, these LOs aren't pubby kinda things, but I'm honestly happy to just be getting back into the swing of things. It's nice to just enjoy myself and do something just for me again....

Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm pretty sure that the "mojo" that found me is mine.....it has my name all over it... So, whoever sent it back to me....THANK YOU!!! I've actually missed it more than I thought I would!

Just around the corner....

Like I said in my last post...spring is (almost) here. This past weekend was...in a WORD.....FABULOUS! Sitting out on the patio sipping a little pinapple concoction and I just thought to myself, "ahhhhhhhhhhhh"!

Luckily things have quieted down a bit and I've been able to plan Evan's birthday for this weekend. He's SO into experiments and chemistry that he has begged me for a "scientist" birthday party. All the boys in his class are coming, along with a couple of other friends, and he's too excited for words about the experiments that we'll be trying! We've planned a mentos gyser, elephant toothpaste, and making their own lava lamps for starters...

Another snowy day

I can feel the difference...the snow is still here but the air feels warmer somehow. I think it's the sun....it's ready to come out and play every day, now. I can actually sit outside on my deck, and feel the warmth of spring trying to peek through the callous cold of winter. It's coming.....

....or at least I think it is...

Ethan was DYING for a guitar.....it was the Wii - guitar hero game bug that bit him hard!!! After hearing about how he wanted this so so so so so so much...we finally caved. So, happy early b-day big guy!!! He is now the proud owner of a brand new electric guitar and amp.....OUCH! no, not really expensive but LOUD! WOW! Luckily it comes with a headphone jack! LOL!

I set up a poll off to the side, and am looking for some input as to what ya'll wanna see in the next Skribblz collection. I've heard from a few that they like the graphics, so feel free to vote, email me or post your comment as to what you would like to see more of, in the future.

On Scrapbooking...

I'm not scrapbooking.

I've actually 'graduated' from the Just Cre8 design team and am now an honorary member of their design team alumni. Can you believe it!? I never thought I would have another alumni designation after I graduated from Trent! LOL!!! I hope I still get a kit every once in a while and that they don't forget about me! I'm still a diehard JC8 girlie....with just a few other obligations on my plate, now.

Seriously, it was just too much ....I hate that constant feeling of being overwhelmed......... and besides, I want to scrap for me again....something I haven't done in......um........I guess for well over a year.

Wow.

How did things change so completely? How did I go from someone who loved my creative expression and spending every available moment immersed in my craft......to this? Stepping into my first DT gig with Scrapshotz.....I really thought I wanted the whole DT thing.

I guess I'm just not design team material. I lose it. My mojo goes on vacay. Not good.

The upside though......I am finding my voice. I've had some serious lessons in the past 2 years, starting with my uncle's sudden death. .....and I actually think I'm learning those lessons. I do know, that I don't like to run my butt off......that's not me. I can't and don't want to. This whole super-mom headset......well, that's not me. I am only one person.

Now, if I can just stop feeling obligated to justify myself, that will be perfect.

Baby steps (this is the part of growing up that I really dig!)

I'm a very bad blogger. It's just one of those things that I just can't find the time to do..... Sigh....please forgive me. I'll do better.

.......maybe.

What is new.....I think I'm finally recovered from pneumonia.....although I still cough sometimes, it's no where near what was going on over the holidays! To everyone who's had it......I feel your pain! What a wonderful little reality gift it is....oh yes and to know that I will be forever more prone to getting pneumonia.....perfect....just perfect!

I'm attempting to teach myself how to build a website. It's like learning another language while you have a concussion...or at least that's what it's like for me. I'm scared everytime I open the program.....I read the words...I understand each word.....but the combination of the words together......nope, I just don't get it. So each day I do a little reading from tutorials and I may just buy a book.

I've working on some Skribblz new releases for the spring and getting excited about increasing the availability of my Scrapbooking line! Weeee!!!! With any luck, I'll figure out the website stuff and everything will come together nicely. (cross your fingers for me!)

One more thought............

I think we have had enough snow.

Honestly.......enough.

I think it's fair that spring comes. Now.

That's just how I feel.

New designs all round

Well the December kit for Just Cre8 is here and I really fell in love with this one. I absolutely loved working with the mix of papers and embellies this time around....jeez these kits just get better and better! Yes, ok, I'm biased, but still!!!! You can check out the Crew's designs in the gallery here but if you haven't already ordered your kit, you're outta luck! These baby's were sold out in 4 DAYS after their release!!!! Somethin' tells me they're HOT HOT HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've finished my creative series seasonal packs for November release and I had a riot designing these for Christmas and winter! I really loved mixing it up with gold and silver this time around, so hopefully you all love them too! Here's a couple of my favorites....

I'm almost finished working on some January releases for the designer line. There's been some delays with the new computer, and getting it to work with my plotter and software, so this has given me some time to really get some concrete designing done. Here's a peek.....

Countdown to Christmas!!!

It's been too long....

....since I scrapped for myself. Scrapping gives me balance.....makes me tap into what's really important in life.....gives me wings to soar over the daily crap that doesn't matter, and into the clouds that rejuvenate and uplift me. It strengthens my spirit, and gives voice to my creativity.

I MUST scrap.....it's not really an "option" for me....I actually HAVE to. Well, I guess I don't "have" to......just if I want to be grounded and centered, it's kinda necessary.

I've still got the mojo but it's all bound up by little strings of indecision and uncertainty. Lately, it takes me forever just to unravel those strings so I can access the "MO". For today, I will wish those strings to vanish and the clouds of uncertainty to disappear.

It's been a roller coaster September, having our house guests Jenny and John (my second cousins) from England here with us for 3 weeks! We've shown them some of the sites and enjoyed the GORGEOUS weather that September had to offer! Bon voyage, and see you soon!

Life can officially return to normal......or something like that.

So, what am I up to........well........designing a new Christmas series of Skribblz for Just Cre8, and working on the kit designs for the December kit. No....no sneak peek yet! I'm also hoping to release a new designer series in the new year......it's a little different from what I normally create. Thanks to Jen H/S, for some great inspiration on that one! You'll be my first ginnea pig, my friend!

Tiki Tiki Tiki!!!

What a fantastic weekend party! We held an inaugural corn roast with a TIKI inspired theme! Fun stuff!!! Woohooo!!!

What is Tiki?.....think polynesian or luau without all the flowers. Very kewl !

We served Mai Tai's (rum, amaretto, tiple sec, OJ, pineapple and grenadine), Mojitos (mint, lime, havana club rum, gingerale and sugar) and the Honolulu (OJ, lemon juice, pineapple juice, and gin)....oh and some jello shooters....just for fun!!!!!

Then for dinner we had the corn (boiled in a turkey fryer....great idea for large groups), BBQ pulled pork, meatballs, baby potatoes and salads.

Here's the shooter shack and the tiki bar ......

I found an old bar, made a top for it and covered it with grass skirts! The light up sign was a bonus!

The shooter shack was the kids jungle gym with grass skirts and a bamboo mural around the bottom. The best part was that anyone wanting a shooter had to climb the ladder to get it and then exit the shack using either one of the slides or the tow line! What a hoot!!!

The highlights: We played the newlywed game....thanks Mel! ....had limbo contests and of course, had some very interesting karaoke on the rented sound system. Good thing I invited my neighbors! (wink)

Stayed up 'till almost 4am today......yawn.....I'm off to bed! G'night!

I'm very excited to see my feature in the upcoming Fall issue of Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine! I haven't gotten my hands on it yet, but I know the CS crew will do a great job with it!

I am debuting my Skribblz Art retail packs at Just Cre8 this September!!! Check it out! I'm so incredibly excited!!!! Having focussed on custom designs so far, I've tried to make the packs universally attractive and words that you can either use together or cut and separate. Here are some pics from our vacation. What a great week and Viamede was wonderful!!! Here's the view from our cabin...

The lake was a bit choppy that day.

They have tons of activities and really focus on the kids and water sports. So we took advantage of the skiing and tubing that was available.....

He was sooooo excited to learn to ski!

Today is a big day for my oldest...he's got a birthday today!!!! Happy day big guy!!!!

On a Skribblz note, my neck is NOT getting better but I have discovered the miracle of pain medication and muscle relexants.....this combination is slowly allowing me to get some production done. It's a slow process at the moment, but I hope to be well soon. I just wish my doctor didn't have to be on vacay for the month!

Back in the game!

We're back from our holidays and feeling very relaxed and rested! We had a wonderful time just hanging out at home, working on some home reno projects and then heading up to Viamede for a few days. What a beautiful place! We had a lovely little cabin amongst the trees, on the edge of stoney lake. The boys enjoyed the beach and watersports and even went waterskiing for the first time! It was intensive relaxation and just s wonderful experience.

My cousin had her baby and I'm excited to welcome new "baby girl Jeffery" into the family ( no first name yet). I'm hoping to head up to the hospital to see her today as long as she is isn't too tired. Then I can get some new mommy-baby pics!

Our friends Cara and Greg also had a new addition over the weekend....Welcome to the world, Baby Sara!!!!! Congratulations to Cara and Greg....it's a girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This month the skribblz included in the kit, are a combination of 5 flowers in different sizes and in three colours, and the word "adore". I've used the largest orange flower in the corner and the medium green one for the "o" in adore.

This paper is gorgeous!!!! The silver in it really added sparkle to my LOs and they're double sided to boot!!!!

Hello Summer!

With the boys finishing up school and the two big weddings of the summer behind us, we're pumped up for a nice relaxing summer break. We've got plans to visit friends, build a deck and look further into getting a pool.....oh gosh how I want one!!!!! I've been asking everyone and their neighbor, how much theirs cost and who did it. If there's any way, we will have one next year.

As for our business, we lost the other employee that we had brought over from Italy. I have nothing to say...........yah, right! When do I ever have nothing to say!?!?!!? That is the LAST time I willl ever open my doors to a foreign worker. Employers beware!.....it's not worth your time or money!!!

I wanted to post my designs from the fabulous July JC8 kit too! This one rawks again.....Sue is creating the best kits to work with!!!!!

The stamps this month are butterfly wings, that are so versatile! I've used them in the first LO to create a large butterfly with the two smaller ones. Then I altered the half moon chipboard book, and used the stamps as flower petals to make my garden journal. When it's closed it looks like half of a flower.

The paper to to DIE for! I love it and the glitter colours are perfect for the season and so easy to use in their little tubes.

I have to say that I am loving being on this DT....the kit is so full of product that I can't use it up! ......and I LOVE having leftovers!!!!

Where have I been?

Wow, life. Sometimes do you find it hard to breathe? LOL! I need to take a step back every once in a while to just relax and enjoy what I have.

With the trailer sale behind us, we've fixed our water issue ( a hole in our pump line...who knew that iron would eat though metal?), finished the spring run of sports, I've wrapped up council activites including hot lunch and healthy snack days, and we're ready to focus on simplier things for a couple of months.

On the business front, unfortunately the employee that we brought over from Germany to work, has received his permanent recidency card and chosen to start his own company. This is a prime example of abuse of the system, but it's his choice to leave. After steady pay increases, bonuses, extended vacations home to Germany and any time off requested, this leaves us with a really bad feeling that we've been used.

On a positive note, Skribblz is doing really well.....very busy and with a few fantastic opportunities to come in the near future! Sorry I can't spill the beans yet, but be watching for future developments!!! I just finished doing a few designs for a cottage and am hoping to get some great shots to post in the gallery!

Today, I can play with the Just Cre8 kit.....I hope! I'm off to grab some photos and hope to create all day long! Isn't Scrapbooking just the best therapy?!?!?! I got some wonderful shots over the weekend at a birthday party.....what a gorgeous kid eh?

Life gets so crazy sometimes and I have to remember to take my camera with me! I get really low on shots just becasue I forget! How bad is that?

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend with lots of good times and friends to surround you!

We had some family over on Saturday....it's so nice for the cousins to see each other! Then held a BBQ and bonfire on Sunday. Mohitos all round! Great friends and some good fun is always a remedy for the weekend blahs.

We have chosen to sell the trailer and say goodbye to our trailer-trash days. LOL! It's just too much to take care of both properties (there's just not enough time) and drive back and forth! Anyways, we listed it last Wednesday and negotiated an offer on Sunday....can you say FAST!?!?! The new people are very nice and looking forward to getting settled. I am NOT looking forward to cleaning out our belongings or saying goodbye to all of the friends we've made over the past two years. That's the hardest part....saying goodbye............

Ok, back to work...I just wanted to pop on and say HI!

A little playtime for Mommy

Guess who got to spend the better part of the day in her SB room??? Yup, you guessed it! ME!!!!!!!!!!! I can't show you what I did cause it's TOP SECRET but I am ooh soooo in LOOOOOVE with the latest kit at Just Cre8! It'll debut on the 15th so you'll have to wait until then to peek at what I did!

We're hoping for a nice weekend of sunshine for Mother's Day! We are blessed to still have both our Moms around to spend the day with us and we're looking forward to celebrating them on their special day! Mom and Mom, I love you! Thanks for always being there!

Spring is here!!!

.....and the projects begin! LOL....isn't that the way it always is? As soon as the nice weather comes we want to get outside and start fixin' and primpin'! I've just finished mulching all the gardens and I was going to post a picture but I figured noone would want to see piles of wood chips! LOL! We moved the firepit last weekend and had our first official bonfire in the new one, this past weekend. Great fun! We've also added two yards of sand to the sandbox, much to the delight of our boys! They love that thing!

The new addition this year is our trampoline!

They are spending hours just jumping around on that! No major injuries so far so I'm hoping it was a "SAFE" investment.

We have bigger plans to re-do the front courtyard and step.....we've had to fix pretty much everything that one of our contractors did because it was done improperly. Man, you sure do have to be careful who does work for you! Then, we'll be completing some stone work along the driveway. We're REALLY hoping to be done landscaping once and for all this year. It's been 7 years of frustration, so it's time it was all finished properly.

I'm really looking forward to a relaxing summer. We're making some changes and simplifying things a little, so I'm sure I'll enjoy this year.

Someone please tell me how I am supposed to scrapbook without ANY photos? I've just gone through most of what I have and realized that I stopped taking pictures right after Christmas......GASP! I know....what was I thinking????????? So now the challenge today is to get my camera out and start clicking away.....again, what was I thinking? Thank goodness for nice weather!

I'm eagerly anticipating the arrival of my June kit for JC8! I can't wait to play with the PP this month....oh gosh it's so gorgeous....in fact the next three months are supercool!!!! Sue is putting together just the best kits, and the fact that she gets them to the CC 3 weeks in advance of the release, is just the nicest thing! .....you can tell that she cares about her CC and her customers.

New perspective...

Ever have one of those glimpses into the future.....?

My DH has been having some chest pains and has recently gone for testing. Saturday night he again starts having chest pain and it gets bad enough that he's asking what we should do.....OMG! right? So we rush to the hospital, leaving the kids with my Mom and Dad (yes, the same mother who has had two significant heart attacks herself... and after using her nitro spray). At the hospital, the mention of chest pain sends the nurses rushing DH past all the other patients and into a room, leaving me sitting in the waiting area.

How long is a minute?......sometimes it feels like a lifetime as you sit there...wondering.....not knowing..... Then you see an elderly person exit the emergency area....visibly shaken....teary eyed....and you know...they're leaving without the person they love......they are alone.

And boom! ....it hits me......we're not young any more....we're not going to live forever....and this could be the first of many visits through these emergency doors....if i'm even that lucky.... What if...... what if he isn't ok....what if he has a heart condition.....what if.............

Luckily, the tests showed no irregularities.....he came home the next day. He is on medication and now carries nitro in case he experiences a similar experience. Oh the relief....and tears....so many tears of gratitude....

And I........well, I am grateful. I am thankful to have another day with the man I love. And I know that this was a HUGE reality check......life is a series of lessons, and if I was supposed to learn something, I get it LOUD AND CLEAR. You only get one life.....It is NOT a dress rehersal! Life is short. Life is a milisecond....it's gone before we know it..............and I can't take it for granted. I especially can't overlook those I love and that love me.....I can't be "too busy" to make time for others. Becasue we all only have a limited amount of time.....

........we're sick. they boys have been sick for the last week or so and of course, things are incredibly busy. There's even been a WHooping Cough incident at the school so I'm REALLY hoping that it's JUST a cold. I am now starting to feel the sickness creep over me.......Yuck.

On a high note...I just got my May kit to play with!!!!! Yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the congrats girls! I am super pumped about Just Cre8!
