Food For Kids

Thanks for your SAHM support! You guys seriously rock! It's definitely a hard role to play when you're getting dismissed by people, but it's the most important thing you'll ever do!

So beyond the hot lunches and finding a new photographer, I applied for a healthy alternatives grant and won it!!! Woohooo for our school!!! We are using the money towards healthy snack days and one helathy alternatives lunch day where they local highschool is coming in and catering some healthier lunch selections. I'm excited! The first healthy snack day was a huge success and the feedback has been amazing.

So now I'm checking out funding for a permenant snack program which would promote nutrition within the school. Check out this link for more information on funding and existing programs. It's amazing how much better children do in school when you take hunger out of the picture. I know with my own kids....I can watch them morph into little beasts as dinner time approaches and they get hungrier. Same principal in the school....kids can't learn well if they're distracted by a growling stomach. This isn't something that only applies to some children, this is universal. There are kids who aren't hungry in the morning at home, but by the time the 9am bell rings, they're starving. There are kids who got on the bus at 7:30 in the morning and have eaten before that....by 9am, they're starving. There are kids who've dropped their snacks on the floor, those that are going through a growth spurt and just don't have enough in their lunches, and those that just generally, don't have enough. This program applies to EVERY child and I'm sooooo excited to be part of a national incentive.

We planned our winter holiday this year....woooohooo....even if it is only for 2 days. LOL! We're heading to Niagara Falls to stay at the Great Wolf Lodge. Very Very cool place to go for families.....they have an indoor waterpark that's open from 8:30am until 10pm!!!!! My boys just love the water, so I know where we'll be the entire time! The boys are gonna be super excited when I tell them, but Ihave to keep it a secret for a bit still.....they'lll go crazy waiting for it!

Don't Dismiss me....

SAHM rant!

Just because I have chosen to stay at home with my children and to put their needs first, does not mean that I lack an opinion.

Just becasue I don't have a title behind my name, does not mean that I lack an education.

Because I have made these choices I feel that I am wasting my education, and I lack the personal fulfillment of having a career of my own....

So please, when you ask me what "I do"...don't dismiss me when I tell you that I'm staying at home with my children. There should NOT be an uncomfortable silence becasue I don't have a title attached to my name. I'm not stupid, lazy or uneducated. I have made a choice that I hope will make life better for my children.

Just One.

I'd love to say that I scrapped the entire weekend away, but unfortunately I didn't. Still very busy...but things are definitely getting better. I did however, get ONE layout done. YAY!

I love these guys so much! Sometimes I just can't believe how lucky I am to have been blessed by these two wonderful boys. I just hope that I'm doing the best that I can for them...I mean I know that all Mom's question their abilities but I really hope that the choices I'm making will have a positive effect on their lives.

This is all I want....for them to be happy....for them to thrive and have wonderful lives....and I'll do eveything I can to make that happen. I just hope I'm doing the right things.......

Good Early Morning to Ya!!!!

The boys were up bright and early this morning, eventhough it's saturday...arrrgghhhh! Couldn't they sleep in just one time????? Anyways, for lack of anything better to post about, I am opting for some inspirational photos......Here we go....

You CAN illicit a change....

At last night's council meeting, I presented the results of our photographer interviews and informed the members of our findings. We voted unanimously to change photographers to a more professional and competent photographer eventhough there is a slight package price increase. I am super excited to be able to implement this change.....eventhough it's a small one, it will make a big difference next year when the photos are professionally handled and the quality exceeds everyone's expectations.

Feelin' pretty great about makin this change......
