What a wonderful day!!!!!!

Well the day at the spa was fabulous!!!! Jen and I had the best time (despite our massage therapists being men) and we laid around the whole day! If you promise not to laugh, I can share a couple of photos.....

Here's one of Jen hanging out in the sunroom just waiting for a treatment.....yeah, you actually sit around all day in a bathrobe!!! It's hilarious.....especially when you get to go to lunch in your bathrobe and slippers!

Here's one of the hottubs located in the change room.....this one is cute but there's an outdoor one located in the 'grotto' with the lap and plunge pools and it's too kewl!!! We also sweated our butts off (I wish) in the eucalyptus sauna.......(sigh)....it was wonderful!

It was ABSOLUTELY worth every penny! You must go!!!!

I hate bullies!

Being on school council, I play a part in the decision-making process for some of the school year's details. The big deal last week, was our selection of a photographer for this year. It was brought to council's attention in the fall, that several parents aren't pleased with the quality of the current photographer. This photographer has been operating with the school for 6 years and has gotten comfortable in his role. I, as a parent and conscientious consumer, want value for my money. I don't want blurry or shadowed photos and I'd prefer not to have food-all-over-their-faces and stickers-on-their-shirt type photos either. So we designed a panel of 4 to oversee the interviews (including one with the current photographer....we are nothing if not fair-minded).

We found that the other three photographers conducted themselves with immense professionalism. The current photographer, proceeded to arrive at the school two days before the scheduled meeting in hopes of questioning the principal, but only succeeded in interrogating the secretary. For the meeting in question, he was pompous, arrogant and ignorant and then attempted to bribe us with hockey tickets for the saturday night game. (gasp!) The entire panel was insulted. The following day, he phoned the principal first thing .....I can only assume to "persuade" her to his way of thinking. We are beyond unimpressed and can't recommend him any longer to the council.

Don't ever allow yourself to be bullied into silence. I really hate bullies!!!!!

This week had an entirely different swing, as I met with the local health unit representative and dietician to discuss our school's "Healthy eating Plan".....or lack of....(yes, insert red face here). As a parent of young children, I hear WAY too often that my kids want the same snacks as Bobby or Suzie (ie: candy, chips or cookies) and how unfair I am being for not giving in. Why are these children allowed to eat garbage everyday?????? It makes it that much harder for those of us parents who don't give in....we who actually say "No". Anyways, we've come up with some really exciting plans involving healthy alternatives like fruit and vegetable platters for healthy snack days and a healthy alternative hot lunch where there would be a buffet of options like wraps and burritos...YUM!!!! Then I'm gonna try a smoothie day instead of an icecream day at the end of the year...I hope the kids like it as much as I think they will!!!!

That's my life in a nutshell for this week! Oh yeah....and I'm off to the spa this weekend for some rejuvenation...wooooooohooooo!!!! I get to hang out in my bathrobe for the day and they have the best hot basalt stone treatments!!! If you have a chance to try them out, definitely do so! You won't be disappointed!

Take some "ME" time this weekend ladies! Relax!

Cheers!

A whole day of Scrapping....

...and this is the final product! Ha ha ha, I guess the days of creating a LO in about 2 hours are gone. This took the better part of an entire day to gain the inspiration and focus to do the LO. It's truely been a while since I felt inspired to create something about myself. I hope you can read the journalling, but basically it's just more of my personal belief/hype. LOL!
Thanks Jen! The photos are fabulous...you really captured the 'real' me!!!
Thanks for peeking everyone!
Cheers~!

Slowing Down

I guess it's inevitable that as we age we take on more and more responsiblility and just assume that we'll be able to juggle everything that comes our way. I've just realized that I'm not Wonder Woman.....I know, it surprised me too.....and that I can't do everything. Some things, like my kids and my family, are just too important to skim over....they need my full attention.

So, I'm making a few little changes....I'm saying goodbye to my Scrap Shotz Team and wishing them all the best for the future....keep on inspiring ladies! I'm also focussing on delegation in another area of my life and trying to recognize that I DO NOT have to do it all myself. Man, it's hard to let go.

I guess it just kinda sneaks up on you, as you get older and you don't realize that things are changing.....people are aging.....health becomes a concern. The big eye-opener, was that my Mom was hospitalized just before Christmas with her recurring heart condition. She is responding well to treatment now, but I remember walking into the hospital room and they had her on oxygen, all kinds of lines on her and the defribulator paddles strapped to her chest....just in case, they told me. It suddenly hit me that she is not a well woman. She's had heart attacks in the past and has a significant amount of damage........but I guess I just thought everything would be fine....

I'm trying really hard to learn this lesson.....I think I'm supposed to slow down. Enjoy my loved ones while they are still here. I also think I'm supposed to find some kind of balance between saving for the future and enjoying the present to it's fullest. There are no guarantees, and life is only what you make of it.

So I'm leaving the juggling behind and moving towards a balancing act instead......anyone wanna come and join my circus???? Hahahahahahaha, I crack myself up!

Cheers!

New Designs for a New Year!

Welcome 2007! ....and say hello to some new designs to kick off the year!
I love the photo on this one of my DS...he's such a looker already!!! LOL! I used the new Ranger Crackle Glaze on the large U and I have to say it's just not as impressive as the Glossy Accents...which is my all time favorite!!!
Can I tell you how much I love Technique Tuesday stamps!!! Wow! Very very cool! The paper is a new line from Crate paper and it's so incredibly versatile because of it's simple black and white colour scheme! Love it!
That's the scoop for now...and I hope to get to some more scrappin' this new year! It's been a bit of a hiadus lately just with family sctuff going on.....but my new year's resolution is to scrap!........a lot!
Cheers!

Don't forget to put your memory card in your camera BEFORE you take those precious New Years Eve photos.
Apparantly My Digital Rebel only has a small bit of internal memory.....not enough to save the photos of our Newyears celebration, and yes....you guessed it....I forgot to put the memory card back in after I downloaded my last batch of Christmas pics. (sigh) .....oh well....maybe there isn't meant to be any evidence. (wink)
Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Coming and going....

I love to see Christmas come.......but I love to see it go as well!! What a crazy time of year!

We've just spent the last 10 days with friends and family and what a whirlwind ride! It's so wonderful to see everyone and fill our stomachs with great food over the holidays. The highlight (Christmas Day) was spent with our close family and watching the kids go nuts around the tree. The boys were doing their happy dance when they found the Air Hockey table that Santa left for them.

I think this little guy found the perfect gift under HIS chistmas tree! That is one excited face!!!

I hope you all have had a wonderful holiday as well......bye bye Christmas and hello 2007!
